Windshield Repair and Criteria

  • Is the damage less than 6″ in total?
  • Has not been attempted to be repaired previously.
  • All of the damage is visible (doesn’t run under moldings, etc)
  • Not located in drivers view
  • Not in camera’s line of sight (ADAS equipped vehicles)

How does the repair process work?

  • Damage is inspected to make sure it can be repaired.
  • The damage is then opened up if needed to allow the resin to enter into the damage.
  • Once the damage is filled a UV light is applied to cure the resin
  • A pit fill resin is used over the impact point of the damage.
  • The UV light is used for a second time to cure the pit fill and finish the curing process of the resins injected into the damage.
  • Once cured, excess resin is removed and polished to bring back a smooth surface to the windshield.

Auto Glass Replacements and What to Expect

  • The vehicle will need to be in an area that allows plenty of space around the vehicle. If in a garage space above the vehicle is helpful
  • Allow a couple of hours from the start of the replacement process to when the vehicle will be operational again.
  • The glass will need to be exposed, so parts of the vehicle will need to be removed. What is removed is determined by the make and model along with which glass is being replaced. (Cowl, Wipers, door panel, etc.)
  • Once the glass is exposed the removal process can begin. Stationary glass will be cut at the adhesive, most movable glass will be tempered, and the glass will be cleaned out. The technicians do their best to remove all broken glass, but we cannot guarantee all tempered glass will be removed from the vehicle due to the nature of tempered glass.
  • Any prep work is completed to the vehicle and glass to ensure the best bond to the vehicle.
  • Once the new glass is installed, all parts removed will be installed back on the vehicle.
